Blog assignment #2: Food Inc.

Food Inc. Movie Review:

After watching the movie, there were many things that I would agree and disagree with.
I agree that the farmers and industries work business together in order to make money, but I also disagree because of HOW they do their business and of where our food for hamburgers and other meals comes from. It shocked me when they revieled the ugly truth about our food coming from farm animals and how they are treated and slaughtered. What shocked me even more is that most industries say continuing to slaughter the animals and shipping them is how they make their money, not caring about the wellness of the public, even if they get sick from the food.

The impact which this movie has left me with is leaving me to wonder: Is there another way for people to eat in any way and the industries to continue working WITHOUT mistreatment of the farm animals? It will make me feel more depressed for the animals if they are still being killed in that way for food products.

I would recommend this movie to anybody who still wants to eat meat because it makes you think about how animals should be used as food.

  1. I was extremely shocked with how the farmers badly treat the animals. I don't think its right how the industries don't care or think twice about who eats their products and all they care about is the money they are making and how much of the product they are making.

  2. The way they treat the animals is what bothered me as well. I especially didn't like the part where it said how the chickens never even see light. That just sounds so horrible! I think the best bet for eating better and not supporting these types of farms is to just buy food locally. As the professor said, what you buy is kind of like a vote.

  3. I agree we need to buy locally in order to stop this bad treatment of animals in these companies.

  4. I strongly agree with you on the issue that the food industry is a business that is focused on making money. It makes me very uncomfortable that these companies care more about profit then the people they sell to. I think the food industry need to reform its priorities.

  5. Yeah Derek I agree the treatment of the animals was appaling to me as well. There has to be a better way for us and the animals to co exist on this planet. They need us and we need the. I am such a fan of free range for the animals and although it cost a little more at the grocery checkout the animals are far better treated.

  6. I agree on your view of the treatment of animals. I believe all companies should treat their animals ethically because they are living creatures too. They breathe, have emotion, and feel pain. Just like we do. I save over 100 animals a year just by being vegetarian.

  7. The treatment of the farm animals is sad. It was hard to see the truth and to think that we as society let this happen every day makes me wonder if the goveronment has a heart. Oh wait, it's the goveronment,of course they dont. Its all about money in the end. The only thing we can do is take a stand agaisnt this type of treatment and make our voice be heard.
